The broken belt catcher for DDZ belt conveyor (hereinafter referred to as the broken belt catcher) is a kind of mechanical protection device which makes reliable catch for the broken conveyor belt after the belt conveyor is broken due to various reasons.  This device can effectively avoid the further extension of the broken belt accident, prevent equipment damage and protect personal safety. The device has comprehensive performances such as the accuracy of judging the signal of the occurrence of a broken belt, the sensitivity of brake implementation, the reliability of brake catching and the convenience of installation and transportation. It is a patented technology with a brand-new broken belt catching concept. Its performance and reliability greatly exceed similar products and can be widely used in belt conveyors of mining, metallurgy, electric power, port and wharf production enterprises,  It is especially  an important safeguard measure for belt conveyors with large inclination, large capacity, and long distance to improve safe operation records.

When the belt conveyor is broken, the belt-breaking catcher can quickly catch the belt in the load-bearing section and the empty section of the belt where the belt is broken or suddenly slipped down after it is out of control. It can be used as a cassette device when needed.

Structural features and working principle

The structure of the broken belt catcher

The belt-breaking catcher is composed of upper frame, lower frame, upper catch frame, lower catch frame, counterweight box, counterweight, catching shoe block , pulley, signal device, etc. (as shown in Figure 1 ).

Working principle

When the belt conveyor is working normally, the upper catch frame is in contact with the lower bottom surface (groove arc bottom) of the carrier belt by the support roller under the tension of the tape  and the lower catch frame is in contact with the lower tape by the support roller. When the belt conveyor is broken, the belt slides down, the tension of the belt drops sharply and the upper and lower rollers of the catcher lose their support. The upper catch frame cooperates with the cross beam to catch the sliding bearing tape under the action of the counterweight and the lower catch frame cooperates with the lower cross beam to catch the empty tape to protect the conveyor. While the upper and lower capture frames are carrying out the capture action, the signal device is triggered. The signal device communicates with the main control of the belt conveyor to send out a broken belt accident signal prompting the main control to issue a stop command to protect the conveyor so as to avoid the occurrence of major broken belts safety incident.
